I said in the last post that our book had been to committee, but I told an untruth. My mother kept saying we didn't know for sure we'd been talk about, kept insinuating that all this waiting was for nothing and would need to be repeated two weeks later, that the torture would never stop.
I don't care what television says, MOTHER knows best.
Our agent called last night to say he'd chatted with the editor and the project is being taken to marketing on Friday. Let's see, then there's the weekend, Monday's a holiday ... Great. I LOVE waiting! Someone mentioned that patience is a virtue. I guess God's planning to make me really virtuous because what's harder than waiting to hear back about one novel at committee?
Yep, waiting to hear back about TWO novels, two separate committees, two separate houses! Before I sound overly optimistic, there's no guarantee that I'll actually get to the second committee, which isn't scheduled until October, but the editor has recommended I be considered. So there's a chance. I feel like opportunities are busting out all over the place!
Foster Care update: The boys meet their forever family on the 2nd, and we transition for the next few days. I know we'll miss them in some ways, but now that they have a family for them, I'm ready for them to go.
It's been a fantastic journey, even though it's only lasted two months. I've been shown a lot I still need to work on in myself, my children have thrived under added responsibility, and I've come to appreciate any second I get to myself to read or blog or write. I'm hoping that last one will stay in effect for a while and motivate me to get more work done in each day instead of wasting hours on stuff that doesn't matter.
Conference Update: Yesterday, Mom and I ordered our business cards. We've always printed them ourselves, but as we move into this new level of business, we wanted them to reflect a new level of professionalism. If any of you are looking for a good place, we used Vista Print. I thought the templates were very easy to work with and the prices were reasonable. (I just clicked over and saw they shipped today!)
Dineen Miller recommended them. Dineen is a fabulous designer of bookmarks, cards, and other gorgeous marketing tools. Yet, she's wise enough to know that not all of us are making money at this writing gig and kindly pointed to a good source. Thanks, Dineen!

My hubby bought a HUGE laptop for me last Christmas. I've been looking for a bag that fits it ever since. Finally, I found the perfect one at Overstock.com and couldn't help but love the $2 shipping cost!
I've already found my formal, which my mother describes as "stunning." (Remember MOTHER knows best!)
The last thing I really need to spend some time on is the one-sheet for the Genesis finalist book. I'm determined to be better prepared than last year. No more going to bed two hours before getting up for the flight!
