Honestly, yesterday at this time I was still asleep in bed.
So far today:
~made sweet husband breakfast (Not As Hard As It Sounds as it was only oatmeal)
~packed his lunch
~updated the money program we use after checking the bank
~folded a load of clothes (NAHAIS as they just needed a fluff in the dryer)
~got three kids up, fed, and driven to school
~unloaded the dishwasher
~made the menu list through the 16th
~wrote out the shopping list
~ran 4 miles
~started another load of laundry
~raked the front yard (NAHAIS as I left the huge pile of leaves for Dave to get when he comes home :))
~caught up on email
~almost finished a blog ;p
~plan to finish up a section of a manuscript for an editing client
I've come to see that I don't need a bunch of New Year's resolutions. I simply need routine and a spoonful of self-discipline.
Anyone else like that? Or did you make resolutions you are willing to share?
I never make resolutions, and this year I went with one word. Strength. In all areas of my life.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I need a routine and a spoonful, or ladleful, of self-discipline!
Happy New Year!
Wow, I'm really impressed! So far I slept in until 8, got dressed, made a scrambled egg breakfast for my newly-back-from-a-long-business-trip husband (who you would know as Dad!), and wrote an article for the church newsletter. Running 4 miles? Not on my list for today (or any day, for that matter.) But I'll be doing Zumba this afternoon, so that should count for something! Glad you're so accomplished today. Love you!
ReplyDeleteAt 6:30 I managed to drag myself and my darling husband out of bed... I wish I could say I ran four miles, really I do... trouble is... I HATE running.
ReplyDeleteKids up and ready... scrambled eggs, toast, & oatmeal (with the help of my amazing 9yo daughter). DH's lunch & hot chai made... get everyone out the door...
The rest of my morning has been a blur of taking care of 6 children aged 18mo-4years. We did get a nice, sunny walk in, so that counts for something.
Oh, and I have moon sand in my hair, peanut butter on my new jeans, and snot smeared on my shoulder.
All in all... it's been a great morning! :-)
I don't make resolutions either... I am trying to make minor adjustments on a daily basis, but that's nothing new.
Well...last night I stayed up reading the last 4 years of your blog, so I was really sleepy this morning. I had to pick up a friend at the airport and did leave in enough time to stop by Ikea on my way (and only purchased items on my list). Then off to join the Y...are the kids out of school already?
ReplyDeleteJessica, I like that word. I was just reading a verse about needing strength to keep the faith, so it fits right in!
ReplyDeleteMom, since your my mother I'm pretty sure you get credit for half my run, as you gave me half my genes. ;p
ReplyDeleteJaime, my favorite paragraph is when you said what substances were covering your body. SO funny!
ReplyDeleteAlison, how cool that you read through the whole thing! You can obviously see that I've slowed down in the time of the new marriage, but I'm so glad I have all the past written. It basically is my diary for everyone to see.
ReplyDeleteSticking to a list as IKEA is VERY impressive!
