Employee of the Month is ...

When Lili and I went to the local grocery store to get ridiculously overpriced, preservative-filled cookies for her class presentation--I don't sound bitter that I can't make them, do I?--I headed toward the self-check out.


Beep, beep, beep, beep. Swipe rewards card. Swipe debit card. Input PIN. Grab receipt. Four cookie boxes bought. Done!

As I left, though, I noticed that it said, "Your checker today was SELF."

Can you feel it coming? If you know me at all, you should be getting a tingle on the back of your neck right about now ...

I went up to the nearest employee, who was stationed there to help people who can't self-check for whatever reason, her presence thereby turning a self-check out into more of a let's-all-work-together-to-check-out check out. I told her that my cashier had been very friendly, quick, efficient, knew exactly what I wanted, and best yet ... she had paid for my order.

Note: Self employment has its own rewards. Employee of the month is ME!!!
